Each INDEX is a unique event. Each year since 1985, the RMIT Interior Design 4th year students find and transform a site into an event of exhibition and celebration. The history of INDEX reads like a history of Melbourne spaces: in 2009, the former site of Giannarelli & Sons Memorials; 2008 Shed 14 at Docklands; 2007, the carpark under the Hoodle St Commission flats; 2006, a former lingerie factory in Richmond …. INDEX 2010 promises not only to continue this tradition but extend its possibilities. As the most significant event of our program, this kind of ambitiousundertaking is not possible without generous support from the design profession.
