Invitation to brainstorm on presentation to various forums:

At our new office courtesy of UNESCO observatory: 6:30pm. 5th floor, Faculty of Architecture, University of Melbourne. Mob. 0417 573107

Topics to be discussed:

1. Archicentre’s call to develop environmental housing design backed by legislation and government policy at national level.

2. Victorian Government’s Inquiry to Keep Victoria Liveable For Future Generations.

The State Government is asking the Commission to:
    · explore the link between liveability and enhancing Victoria’s competitiveness, using well established measures of liveability like stability; healthcare; culture and environment; education; and infrastructure. · examine the efficiency advantages of good planning and community infrastructure, and evaluate the economic costs of poor urban design; · discuss whether ‘liveability’ needs are different in provincial Victoria than in Melbourne; · report on the planning, design and implementation of sustainable urban concepts and systems in other jurisdictions in Australia and internationally that are focused on achieving liveability goals, and how these approaches can be applied in Victoria; · identify opportunities for government to enhance the liveability of Victoria – while taking into account sustainability issues – and suggest ways of overcoming any challenges faced in realising these opportunities.
3. Architects for Peace have been asked to make a 5-minute presentation on transport at The Sustainable Living Festival 2008. The theme is ‘Sustainability – Make it your Sport’. The event will be held between the 15 -17 February 2008
