More than half of the world’s population lives in cities. This poses a challenge: how do we plan sustainable urban environments not only for those in the greatest need, but also for those who have the fewest options? As Australia and the globe experience rapid climate change, the urgent challenge is to plan and build sustainable cities.

Speakers will investigate how green imperatives translate into urban design, energy systems, housing and local government. Key note speakers include:

Stephan Behnisch – multi-award winning German architect, advocate and educator of sustainable building design.

Matthias Sauerbruch and Louisa Hutton– award winning Berlin architects with a focus on low energy concepts in building.

Gerard Evenden– UK architect firm Foster + Partners, whose work involves sustainable initiatives across infrastructure, architecture and product design.

Anna Tibaijuka
- Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, Kenya.

Tim Costello- chief executive of World Vision Australia.

Bernard Salt – KPMG partner, KPMG Australia’s Property Advisory Services group provide demographic and consumer trend advice.
