Ply vs plasterboard
Which is cheapest as an internal lining, considering skirtings etc not required with ply. Would a 6mm pine ply come in cheaper?

we've used ply as a ceiling lining - not cheaper, but got close due to efficient use of sheets. Some thoughts
1) you can't usually totally avoid cutting sheets as they need to be cut anyway to make them square.
2) you need to come up with a cheap (easy) joint detail to make labour easier than plastering - it is my understanding that skirtings are an easy/cheap joint detail.
3) If you could fully eliminate plastering as a trade on your project, that might make it cheaper to use ply. Also you could try to eliminate painting somehow.

Finding plastering costing lots these days - and don't like plasterboard either, so it would be good to try ply and maybe even save a dollar.
