Mid-rise frenzy: Going up?

WHEN MOST FAMILIES IN Metro Manila think of residential growth, the image that usually comes to mind is of bungalows sprawling out in every direction. Lately, though, residential growth seems to be heading another way --straight up.

Over the past year, Metro Manila has become awash in plans for mid-rise condominiums or developments five to 10 levels high.

Mediterranean-inspired structures

According to architect Brian John Mangio, managing partner of Nestor S. Mangio and Associates and chief designer of Dolmar Golden Heights Residences, the whole development will be composed of four Mediterranean-style buildings with tiled roof and huge windows, using earth colors.

The architect explained the building's design creates the illusion of a charming seaside European village.
