autocad materials

hi, i'm a fifth year archi student in the middle of my final project and was wondering if anyone out there knows how to make your own auto-cad (2002) materials that can be applied to 3d computer models. i havn't got a clue at the moment!
any advice welcome

    you have to take photos of the material then make it into a tile in such a way that there's no seam if you put the tiles end to end
    Its far easier to get the ready made ones
