Just to summarize.
Fact one: We have absolutely no resources available to the student. All we have are two color A3 printers and pentium 4s with 20% of the software USYD has. No lazer cutter, no model making facilities, no permanen… -

It makes sense in a way. But i think i'm not the only one who's had a disagreeable tutor and got a pass for it. If that means i had to repeat design then i might have considered jumping ship since repeating design is a big big hindrance.

An arch course basically introduces you to the topics that would concern an architect, but the studying and research is up to yourself. I would go as far as to say nothing is 'taught' in architecture.

conceptual (probaly post rationalization) skteches yes, but hand rendering no. -
believe me, good architecture is not created on napkins in a cafe. its a rigorous multidesciplinary exploration on the problems presented, which forms the basis for your response (the building).

architecture is only a part of art in the broadest sense. architecture can never have the freedom of art and art can never be architecture. Although people use the word 'art' for everything these days so im sure some will disagree.

Its not structual is it? i dont think any of the big names have used it yet. i guess they are afraid of been called 'kitsch'. i suppose the same effect can be had with treated glass.
