State Architect

edited September 2005 in Q and A
The Victorian Government recently announced its decision to create a State Architect position. The definition and scope of this role is currently being pinned down but essentially it is to act as an advocate for architecture to the government and public.I was wondering about how this role has become manifest in other states or the NZ equivalent.Has it resulted yet in better public architecture that is equitably distributed amongst architects and across the state?
