Flinders Street Station design competition

[ Announcement of future competition ]

In May 2011 the Government committed to a $1 million international design competition to help rejuvenate and restore Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Station.

The Government will be looking for the best ideas from around the world to re-energise the station and its surrounds while making sure critical heritage values are maintained.

Designs will be expected to address the station’s transport function, heritage requirements, urban design and integration with its surrounds as well as providing a value for money construction proposal.

A prize pool of $1 million will be offered to entrants while the competition will be run according to Australian Institute of Architects guidelines.

Work is currently underway to consult with key stakeholders and write a detailed competition brief for entrants. Further announcements on the competition will be made in due course.
